Why Essential Oils?

When I first heard about essential oils, I didn’t think they were for me…

I am not a massage therapist nor do I use incense so when I first heard about essential oils I guessed I would have no use for them. Boy, was I wrong. I was quickly educated to find out essential oils at their highest quality actually aid with many ailments and are a great “first defense” alternative to basic Doctor’s visits. It is also a way to get rid of all of the toxic synthetic smelling products we use in our everyday lives — glade sprays and plug-ins, candles, scented body lotion, cleaners, etc). In addition to the physical health side of things, it helps with the emotional side as well. Many oils aid in helping with anxiety, depression, and overall mood.

MY FAVORITE OILS AND HOW I USE THEM:

Tea Tree Oil:

1). One drop mixed in my face lotion to help prevent or get rid of pimples and keep my skin clear and glowing.

2). Dilute with fractionated coconut oil and rubbed on my throat when it is sore.

3). Apply to fingernails and toenails after showering to purify and keep nails healthy.

4). Used in cleaners for house and yoga mat cleaner for its cleansing and purifying affects.

OnGuard:

1). Diffuse in the house to purify the air especially during “that time of year” when I feel the cold and flu season coming on.

2). When traveling, I take a bottle with me for a natural mouthwash. Fill your mouth with water and add one drop, swish around, and spit out.

3). Mixed with Castile soap for a disinfecting and cleansing hand soap. (Also can be bought pre-made to mix with water in a foaming hand pump).

4). Add to water for an all-purpose, non-toxic, surface cleaner.

MY FAVORITE DIFFUSER BLEND FOR FALL:

*4 drops Douglas Fir Essential Oil

*2 drops Cypress Essential Oil

*2 drops Juniper Berry Essential Oil

*2 drops Patchouli Essential Oil

Add the above to a diffuser with distilled or purified water and enjoy! Reminds me of a fall/Christmas candle scent!

MORE INFORMATION:

If you have ever enjoyed the scent of a rose…

you’ve experienced the aromatic qualities of essential oils. These naturally occurring, volatile aromatic compounds are found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants. They can be both beautifully and powerfully fragrant. Essential oils give plants their distinctive smells, essential oils protect plants and play a role in plant pollination. In addition to their intrinsic benefits to plants and their beautiful fragrance, essential oils have long been used for food preparation, beauty treatment, and health-care practices. Essential oils are in everything - in your candles, toothpaste, handsoap, perfume, but most of the time are synthetic and potentially harmful to the body, so finding a good quality oil is important.

Even with pure essential oils the composition of the oil can vary depending on the time of day, season, geographic location, method and duration of distillation, year grown, and the weather, making every step of the production process a critical determinant of the overall quality of the essential oil product.

Essential oils can be used for a wide range of emotional and physical wellness applications. They can be used as single essential oils or in complex essential oil blends depending on user experience and desired benefit. Want to learn how to use essential oils?
