About Tina

Being Resilient is defined in the Merriam-Webster dictionary as “tending to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change”. We all have times in our lives that force us to change and deal with problems, but the determiner is how we come out the other side.

Fitness has always been a staple in Tina’s life. She started soccer at age 6, adding basketball, track, volleyball, and weightlifting, over the years.  However, she wasn’t born with athletic ability. The habits her parents instilled, along with her diligent dedication to each sport, created a strong work ethic — telling her competitors and teammates, if you were going to beat her off the court or field, you’d have to give 100% all the time.  Tina went on to play high-level volleyball on back-to-back State Championship teams in high school, was a four-year starter and record setter in college, coached Division I college volleyball and played professionally overseas. She is familiar with the grind (no season is the offseason) and knows what it takes to perform at the next level.

During her senior pre-season, her boyfriend, Kevin, was in a serious accident causing major brain trauma, an induced coma, and eventual death.  The pressure of high expectations for a high-performing senior year while dealing with this news would have most people shutting down.  However, the following evening after his death was the first home regular season volleyball match of the year, where she showed up, started and played the whole game. The following weekend was Kevin’s funeral, so she missed Friday’s play but still earned her spot on the All-Tournament team even after missing the first day of competition.

She kept her composure and from that day forward showed up to every practice, match, and school day the remainder of that year…and every year since. She has always had the mindset of a fighter - someone who never gives up and always looks at the positive in every situation. You can’t control what has happened anyways, so why not try to get back up one more time?

She also played professionally overseas in Kuusamo, Finland, and Benidorm, Spain before contemplating her next career goal. Like most athletes that play at a high level she was unsure of what to do next. After noticing how her own strength training and injury prevention had sustained her body through 26 years of professional sports, she decided to help people through their own fitness journey. Today, through CrossFit, Personal Training, and Yoga, she helps clients individually, and in small and big groups. This fitness coaching also led her to pursue a life coaching certification.
